Project manager
Reporting to the Director, the incumbent’s main function is to manage projects from design to delivery. He/she supervises team members in the performance of their tasks, ensuring compliance with laws, standards and the customer’s wishes. The Project Manager does not have direct supervision of employees in his or her department.
Main responsibilities
- Participate in the production of bids
- Direct the design and/or management of projects
- Direct, control and evaluate projects from start to finish, according to schedule, specifications and budget
- Administer the project, i.e.: cost control, schedule control and change order management;
- Prepare and present project budget forecasts
- Plan and prepare schedules and milestones, and check progress against these;
- Develop and implement quality control programs.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members
- Prepare progress reports, progress schedules for customers, technical reports and documents required by the various authorities.
- Produce invoices
- Define manpower requirements and, if necessary, participate in the recruitment of subcontractors and subordinate staff.
- Work closely with all team members (quality and time), advising, supporting and encouraging them.
- Keep abreast of new trends, methods and technologies, so as to be aware of factors that could become opportunities or threats for the company, and take advantage of them.
- Solve problems not solved at previous level
- Attend coordination meetings with customers and professionals for a large proportion of projects;
- Ensure project follow-up and communications with customers;
- Facilitate certain meetings
Basic skills
- Demonstrate excellent French language skills (oral and written);
- Working knowledge of English (oral and written);
Technical skills
- Technical expertise in civil engineering
- Expertise in civil engineering design (building structure) and/or site management;
- Have a valid driver’s license and a car.

Prior training or certification
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering;
- Be a member in good standing of the Quebec Order of Engineers;
- Have completed training in worksite safety (ASP card).
Required experience
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in civil engineering
