A major mining project in the heart of northern Quebec
The project took place on the outskirts of Schefferville, on the North Shore of Quebec, in collaboration with Tata Steel Ltd and the firm Construction PG. Our mission was to extend the operations of an existing mine with the construction of access roads to the mines, the development of retention basins and the management of runoff water contaminated by iron dust, also called “red water”.
To meet this challenge, our team designed a complete rainwater capture and treatment system. Ditches along ore transport roads, culverts and sedimentation ponds were carefully planned and implemented to limit environmental impact while optimizing site operations.
