Reporting to the Vice President – Structure, the position is responsible for performing the duties and responsibilities assigned to the position, but not limited to the following Focused on the initiation of building structure projects, the position acts as a technical expert, providing guidance to the project managers, design and site supervision team and reviewing work as required. In addition, this person acts as the point of contact between the client and the team to resolve any significant issues that may arise. Requirements
- Have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction engineering
- Be a member in good standing of the Quebec Order of Engineers.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in building structure design and project management
- Experience in personnel management
- Valid driver’s license + car
- Excellent French language skills (oral and written)
- Functional knowledge of English (oral and written).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In collaboration with the Vice President, Structure, participate in the creation of strategic objectives for his/her department and actively participate in their communication, implementation and monitoring of results;
- Manage and assign projects to the design and site supervision team (small and large projects) in collaboration with management;
- Assign new projects to engineers and draftsmen in collaboration with management;
- Prepare and/or participate in the preparation of service offers;
- Manage the workshop and priorities (deadlines) in collaboration with management;
- Provide technical support to the structure team;
- Design projects and write expert reports:
- Ensure rigorous management of the department’s budget and its projects in collaboration with management;
- Establish and maintain contact with clients;
- Manage requests for changes, emergencies, team travel, etc. (emails during construction);
- Ensure that the working conditions of the employees respect the safety standards;
- Ensure the professional development of employees internally and approve all external training;
- Implement efficient work methods and processes within the team and ensure that they are respected by the team in collaboration with management;
- Actively monitor the work climate within his/her team by taking steps to maintain a positive work environment and adherence to company values. Provide coaching in good management practices to project managers or other managers on a regular basis;
- Provide regular feedback to the team, as well as ongoing mentoring, training and coaching to develop their skills. Complete annual performance reviews;
- In collaboration with Human Resources and the management team, responsible for all hiring, onboarding, salary reviews, promotions, disciplinary matters and termination issues for their team;
