01 / description
The reconstruction work on 23rd Avenue in Saint-Zotique included, but was not limited to:
- Replacement of the storm sewer system serving the basin downstream from École secondaire des Navigateurs, including resizing of the pipes;
- Culling of ditches;
- Replacement and/or reconstruction of the water and sanitary sewer systems;
- Reconstruction of the storm outfall;
- Road reconstruction where required;
- Site remediation work.
02 / particularities
Following the approval of an 80 L/s stormwater discharge from the new Navigateurs High School, issues arose with the existing storm sewer system. A design report was prepared to evaluate the various options and their costs. Furthermore, the shallow depth of the 23rd Avenue storm sewer system limited the available solutions.
03 / complexities
The project presented the following challenges:
- Possible minimally invasive solutions;
- Very limited rainwater cover;
- Managing a pumped flow from the school.
